June is Unofficially Vampire Month with the release of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse opening on June 30th, season 3 of “True Blood” beginning on June 13th and “Moonlight” re-airing on The CW starting June 3rd. So we thought we’d ask you what your favorite vampire TV show of recent memory was. I know this is not a complete list of all the vampire related shows. Who would you add?
What is your favorite Vampire TV Show?
- Moonlight (64%, 174 Votes)
- The Vampire Diaries (15%, 42 Votes)
- True Blood (15%, 41 Votes)
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer (6%, 16 Votes)
Total Voters: 273

Moonlight? How the F is Moonlight even ON this poll? It reeked! The only decent thing about that show was Jason Dohring, and even so all his character was just Logan (from Veronica Mars) as a vamp. Put Angel there. Or even Forever Knight. Or Dark Shadows.
No way, MOONLIGHT RULES!!!
Moonlight was a great show that got interupted by the writer’s strike. CBS never properly promoted it. There was multiple showrunners behind the scenes and there was a lot behind the scenes bickering. That aside, this was one of be best and original shows on the air. The love story between Mick and Beth was outstanding. It was about Mick trying to find his redemption for what he was. He hated being a vampire and Beth loved him no matter what he was. The characters were great and the chemistry between the entire cast was something not found today. One more thing. CBS told the media and the entire cast (who went on a talk show and spoke about it) that they were coming back for season two. Out of the blue they were axed with no never mind.
Moonlight was a different kind of vampire show, more PG13, less vampy, more romantic. It had great characters, drama and a bit of humor. Mick St. John was a work of art. I could stare at him all day. Somehow the show was also very inspiring for so many fans. It amazing how a show can powerfully touch so many fans. And that why it’s wonderful to sink my teeth into it again, as it comes on SyFy, CW and Chiller!
The poll is for your favorite vampire TV show of RECENT memory. It also states that it isn’t a complete list and asks who you would add. Also, Angel actually is listed, since the character started out on BUFFY. Jeez, did you even READ the article before you started complaining about Moonlight??
Moonlight!!! The best, most realistic and believable vampire show ever!! Miss it terribly!!
Thank you for including my favorite vampire show, or show for that matter, of all time. MOONLIGHT!!! The show is pure magic. I loved it from the first episode. It has the right ingredients, characters, cast, drama, excitement, intrigue, romance all combined for something I hadnt encountered on television for a long, long time and that is it caught and held my attention non-stop. I have watched most of the vampire shows that have been presented in the past few years and they were all pretty good but not one of them affected me the way MOONLIGHT has. I dont know how to explain it except the show enchants me and I was actually devastated when it was prematurely and viciously CANCELLED. I praise the powers that be to have realized what a titanic blunder was perpetrated when that show was cancelled and have decided to give the viewing audience another look at what a wonderful and beloved show it is.
hey leosgreens! so what is your fave vamp show? and in case you didn’t know it Moonlight is still extremely popular or it wouldn’t be airing on the CW, SyFy and Chiller. Dawn Osteroff of the CW said in TVGuide this week that the CW still receives a lot of mail everyday about Moonlight. For something so bad I wouldn’t think there would still be so much passion for it. Anyway to each his own. I also love the Vampire Diaries, Forever Knight, Angel, Buffy… Not too fond of True Blood… Watched an eppy the other night on DirecTV’s 101 and it was BIZARRE!
For a show that only lasted 16 short episodes to still have a very large fanbase that is still growing should say something. Everytime SyFy and Chiller air marathons more and more fans are born and asking why was it cancelled by CBS? It won a Saturn Award a year after it was cancelled beating out current popular shows. That has to tell you something. From reading all the above comments it is so true how it touched our hearts and souls. I am sure many at CBS would want us to forget it and walk away and stop writing in, but when you create magic it can’t be forgotten. Mick St. John and Beth Turner have amazing chemistry that is like lightning in a bottle. Pure magic. Thanks SyFy, Chiller and now CW for seeing something special in this show and making its millions of fans happy.
Moonlight the best show of vampires that has already been done.
Mooonlight is already a classic and will be forever in my memory!
Moonlight was endearing because you felt safe and secure with Mick; and his competence level was extraordinary; and he showed such compassion and concern in his endeavors to make things right; and his personal natural body movements and illustrious stares and gestures and rhythmic voice and inclinations and perceptive warmth balanced so well; and he managed to guard the story and climax it at the right time and let it fall in a subtle manner or a wonderful high humor or sad tone or a voice over or a simple answer in the end. His strong behaviors always adapted easily in the scenes and you felt all his emotions instantly and comfortably. Also his ideals and morals and principles and dutifulness never waivered and it made us so passionately devoured emotionally in a loving manner by his performance.
I was unaware of Moonlight when it was originally broadcasr so yeah, I think CBS failed to properly promote it. When I discovered it on SciFi long after it was cancelled I immediately ran out to buy the DVD and couldn’t believe it when I discovered it was no longer on the air. Alex O’Loughlin was superb as Mick, Sophia Myles was delightful as the intrepid Beth and the MickBeth relationship was enchanting. Jason Dohring was a welcome change from the cliched old geezer vamp mentor and making him actually appear younger than his best friend Mick was a great idea. Everyone in the cast was top notch and melded together seamlessly. It’s great to see the show back on TV. I’d turn out for a Moonlight movie or Mini-series in a heartbeat!
Moonlight is the best vampire show, ever!
MMMMMMMOOOOOOOONNNNNLLLLIIIIGGGGHHHHTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL THE WAY!!!! THE COOLEST MOST REALISTIC VAMPIRE SHOW EVER. MEN MAY NOT LIKE IT, BECAUSE OF ALL THE ROMANCE, BUT IT IS THE CHEMISTRY THAT MADE THE SHOW SOO GRATE, THE BIGGEST MISTAKE THE NETWORK EVER MADE WAS CANCELING IT. BET THEY ARE KICKING THEMSELVES NOW! THEY HAD THE HIGHEST RATED SHOW EVER, THE FANS LOVED IT, NOW WE GO OUT & BUY THE DVD & WATCH IT OVER & OVER & OVER. THE NIGHT SHOTS OF THE CITY WERE FAB! SPECIAL EFFECTS FIRST RATE. ALEX O’ HOTTER THAN HOT, BETH SWEETER THAN SWEET, JOSEPH, VERY INTRIGUING…. THE WHOLE SHOW WAS PUT TOGETHER FABULOUSLY & HAD ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES. THE SHOW WAS A1! CBS BLEW IT! IF THEY HAVE HALF A BRAIN, THEY WILL MAKE A MOVIE OUT OF IT, ALEX JUST DID ONE MOVIE WITH JENNIFER LOPEZ & IT WAS PRETTY FUNNY & CUTE. THEY SHOULD DO A MOONLIGHT MOVIE!
Well said, everyone! Moonlight struck a chord in everyone of us that is hard to describe. The characters came to life and had so much more to offer, given that a couple of vampires were 2 to 4 centuries old. There could have been so much to look forward to for the arcs with their past and their existence during the French Revolution. Moonlight was short-lived but powerful that it was hard to forget.
Gone but not forgotten.
Moonlight reminded me a tad too much of Angel for me to fully enjoy it.
Buffy the vampire slayer rules forever! Even if I love Moonlight and The vampire diaries, I had to vote Buffy! It was the first tv show I fallen in love with <3
