Monsters vs. Aliens
It has been a while since a kids film has come out that really had me leaving the theater with that “feel good kid film” feeling.
My six year old had been talking for weeks about seeing this film. She was mad that we couldn’t go on Friday as soon as it was released because her father wanted to see it as well. She had to wait until Sunday and boy was that the hardest stretch of time she had to do.
When Sunday finally came, we headed to the cheaper matinee IMAX 3D showing with great expectations. The last animated film I saw was Space Chimps, which was really just plain bad. This one didn’t disappoint.
Despite a slow start, when we finally are introduced to the monsters, things pick up and don’t stop until the end.
The alien is annoying, but all the monsters are lovable and entertaining. The theater packed with kids loved every minute of the film. The adults were entertained with an adult themed joke here and there. Special mention goes out to Stephen Colbert and his latte drinking president.
It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with the kids and I can see this one being added to the DVD collection when it becomes available, which is saying a lot since we don’t buy many DVDs anymore.
