Robin Hood (2010)

Oscar® winner Russell Crowe stars as the legendary figure known by generations as “Robin Hood,” whose exploits have endured in popular mythology and ignited the imagination of those who share his spirit of adventure and righteousness. In 13th century England, Robin and his band of marauders confront corruption in a local village and lead an uprising against the crown that will forever alter the balance of world power. Robin Hood chronicles the life of an expert archer, previously interested only in self-preservation, from his service in King Richard’s army against the French. Upon Richard’s death, Robin travels to Nottingham, a town suffering from the corruption of a despotic sheriff and crippling taxation, where he falls for the spirited widow Lady Marion (Oscar® winner Cate Blanchett), a woman skeptical of the identity and motivations of this crusader from the forest. Hoping to earn the hand of Maid Marion and salvage the village, Robin assembles a gang whose lethal mercenary skills are matched only by its appetite for life. Together, they begin preying on the indulgent upper class to correct injustices under the sheriff.

With their country weakened from decades of war, embattled from the ineffective rule of the new king and vulnerable to insurgencies from within and threats from afar, Robin and his men heed a call to ever greater adventure. This unlikeliest of heroes and his allies set off to protect their country from slipping into bloody civil war and return glory to England once more.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

Freddy Krueger returns in “A Nightmare on Elm Street”, a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond; they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger; a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake they can protect one another…but when they sleep there is no escape.

Donning Freddy’s trademark fedora, red-and-green stripped sweater and four-bladed glove is Academy Award nominated actor Jackie Earle Haley (“Little Children” “Watchmen”). The film is being directed by award-winning music video and commercial director Samuel Bayer (Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”), marking his feature film debut.  The teens who’s dreams are terrorized by Freddy Krueger are played by an ensemble of young actors including Kyle Gallner (“The Haunting in Connecticut”) Katie Cassidy (“Taken”, TV’s “Supernatural), Rooney Mara (“Urban Legend: Bloody Mary”), Thomas Dekker (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”), and Kellan Lutz (“The Twilight Saga”). The supporting cast also includes veteran character actor Clancy Brown (“The Shawshank Redemption” “Highlander”) and Connie Britton (“Friday Night Lights”).

“A Nightmare on Elm Street” is based on characters created by Wes Craven in his 1984 sleeper horror hit. That film went on to become one of the horror genre’s longest-running, most successful and innovative film series, spawning seven sequels.  Now, 25 years later, comes a contemporary incarnation of the Freddy Krueger origin story.

Clash of the Titans (2010)

“Clash of the Titans” is being directed by Louis Leterrier (“The Incredible Hulk”). Leading the international cast is Australian actor Sam Worthington (“Terminator Salvation,” the upcoming “Avatar”) as Perseus, the mortal son of Zeus, king of the gods. Academy Award® nominee Liam Neeson (“Taken,” “Schindler’s List”) takes on the role of the mighty Zeus, and Academy Award® nominee Ralph Fiennes (the “Harry Potter” films, “The English Patient”) plays the role of Hades, god of the underworld, who feeds on human fear. Rounding out the cast is Gemma Arterton (“Quantum of Solace”) as Io, Perseus’ mysterious spiritual guide throughout his journey; Mads Mikkelsen (“Casino Royale”) as Draco, who takes up his sword to join Perseus’ quest; Jason Flemyng (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) as Acrisius, a one-time king turned hideous beast; and Alexa Davalos (“Defiance”) as Andromeda, a princess doomed to lose her life if Perseus does not succeed.
