Inspired by true events, “The Rite” follows skeptical seminary student Michael Kovak (Colin O’Donoghue), who reluctantly attends exorcism school at the Vatican. While in Rome, he meets an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins), who introduces him to the darker side of his faith.

Directed by Mikael Håfström (“1408”), “The Rite” is a supernatural thriller that uncovers the devil’s reach to even one of the holiest places on Earth. Contrafilms’ Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson (“The Exorcism of Emily Rose”) are producing the film. The screenplay was penned by Michael Petroni (upcoming “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”), inspired by the book by Matt Baglio. Christy Fletcher and Emma Parry are co-producing. Richard Brener, Merideth Finn and Robert Bernacchi serve as executive producers.

Hopkins stars as Father Lucas. An Oscar® winner for his iconic portrayal of Dr. Hannibal Lecter in “The Silence of the Lambs,” Hopkins’ impressive career includes “The Remains of the Day” and this year’s “The Wolfman,” as well as the upcoming comics-based film “Thor.”

Making his feature film debut, O’Donoghue stars as Michael Kovak, the disillusioned American seminary student.

Alice Braga plays the role of Angeline, a journalist in Rome doing research on exorcisms. Braga will next be seen this summer in “Predators.” Her additional credits include “I Am Legend” and “City of God.”

Ciarán Hinds portrays Father Xavier. Known for his role as Gaius Julius Caesar in HBO’s “Rome,” Hinds will soon be seen in the upcoming “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” films.

Toby Jones plays the role of Father Matthew. Jones has appeared in such films as “Frost/Nixon,” “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” and “The Painted Veil” and will soon be seen in “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

Veteran actor Rutger Hauer takes on the role of Michael’s father, Istvan Kovak. Hauer’s career includes roles in “Blade Runner,” “The Hitcher,” “Sin City” and “Batman Begins.”

Håfström previously directed the John Cusack thriller “1408,” and “Derailed,” starring Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston. His most recent film, “Shanghai,” also starring John Cusack, will be in theaters later this year. His film “Evil,” which he wrote and directed, was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2004 Academy Awards® and won three Swedish Guldbagge Awards, including Best Film.

Slated for release in January 28 2011, New Line Cinema’s “The Rite” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

He has fallen in love with Lena and is going through a turbulent time, eager to leave his wife to be with her. But all Lena is trying to do is extricate herself from this mess and just get through the next few days.

Trick or treat everyone! The theme for our October is “Boys in Scary Situations”.  Appropriate for Halloween month, don’t you think?  It also seemed appropriate that we profile the other “Winchester Brother” Jensen Ackles as season 5 of Supernatural starts off with a bang.  Tom Dekker is going to be running from Freddy Krueger this Spring.  Can’t wait for that!  And of course we just had to talk about Cam Gigandet from Twilight and Pandorum.  Jesse Eisenberg may be the odd man out, the nerd of the group. But none the less, he’s adorable.

So get out there and vote for your favorite zombie killer, demon hunter, cyborg destroyer or vampire.

Jensen Ackles

Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester on The CW's SupernaturalIf you think playing the bad boy with brooding good looks in a leather jacket that drives a fast car sounds like an easy role to play, I ask you to think again. This particular bad boy has to do more than just look cool. He has to hunt ghosts, kill demons, cry pretty and on one occasion actually die for his brother. Doesn’t sound so easy now does it? Enter Jensen Ackles, the scintillating actor who plays this unique bad boy, Dean Winchester of the CW’s “Supernatural.”

I can only imagine that fighting demons wasn’t what Jensen had in mind when he put aside his plans of going to college in his home state of Texas to study sports medicine to give Hollywood a chance. This decision came shortly after his three year run as Eric Brady on “Days of Our Lives” had ended back in the late 90’s. Maybe it was the three Daytime Emmy nominations that convinced him and his agents that he just might have some acting chops worth exploring. I guess at this point it really doesn’t matter what it was that convinced him, I’m just glad it did!

After trading in his cowboy boots for flip flops and moving west, Jensen made his first Hollywood appearance opposite fellow pretty boy Patrick Dempsey in Blonde, a mini-series about the life of Marilyn Monroe. Looking for a more steady paycheck he auditioned for the role of young Clark Kent on “Smallville”. He didn’t get the part but it helped him get his foot in the door and ultimately land the role of Alec on James Cameron’s television series “Dark Angel” in 2001. Ironically after the cancellation of “Dark Angel,” Jensen found himself full circle and back on the set of “Smallville” playing the part of Jason Teague.

It was during this time that he was asked to audition for a role in a new series being developed for the WB network. The show is about two brothers driving across America hunting the supernatural and saving people. Originally he read for the part of the younger brother Sam Winchester. But series creator Eric Kripke saw something else in Jensen that made him feel he would be better suited for the older more serious brother Dean. Wise choice as the ratings and growing fan base will attest. “Supernatural” began season five with a bang on September 10th and according to the CW press release, the show is up 60% in the networks specific target demographic, women ages 18-34. Take that “Grey’s Anatomy”!

With Jensen’s acting abilities and a face created to make women swoon, it’s a surprise that he hasn’t made more movies. Thankfully we got a 3D view of him this last January when he starred in the remake of My Bloody Valentine in, well, 3D. The movie opened to large crowds and took in a total of almost $52 mm domestically. It is now available on DVD. Quite a showing for a horror flick in the middle of winter. But if blood and violence isn’t your thing, I suggest you walk, no run to your local Blockbuster and pick up a little Indie movie called Ten Inch Hero. Jensen’s portrayal of the tattooed, Mohawk wearing, outspoken Priestly, really showcases his range as an actor with his comedic timing. Not to mention, the boy can rock a kilt and combat boots.

If all that wasn’t enough to get you interested in Mr. Ackles, he also appeared as Lt Kaffee alongside Lou Diamond Phillips in a stage production of A Few Good Men at the Casa Mañana Theatre in Fort Worth, Texas in the summer of 2007. Jensen received good reviews for his performance, the first on stage since he left high school. I can attest to the great performance since I was lucky enough to have been in the audience for one of the five performances

With only a season or two left to play out his role on “Supernatural”, we can only hope that this very talented guy will give us plenty more to watch for.

I call him “The Mountain”. “Mount” Padalecki stands a cool 6’2 ½” in his stocking feet and fangirls love every inch of him.

Jared got his career off to a great start appearing as “Dean Forrester” on the beloved show “The Gilmore Girls.” Jared then landed a couple small-ish movie roles in films like House of Wax (in that one Paris Hilton gets offed, it’s great!), Flight of the Phoenix, and even an Olsen Twins movie. But we won’t hold that against the boy. He’s gotta eat, right? It’s his work on the CW series “Supernatural” (along side fellow one2watch4 hottie Jensen Ackles) that is getting this fine young man some real exposure. At press time the series about 2 brothers criss-crossing the country saving people from ghosts and demons is in its fourth season and picking up momentum. Appropriately enough Jared’s latest film, a remake of the slasher classic Friday the 13th opens on Friday, February 13 across the globe. And for a gentler change of pace look for Thomas Kinkade’s Home for Christmas is available on DVD.

Having been privilege to see Jared in person a couple times I can say without a doubt that he is the most gracious, kind-hearted and adorable guy. He immediately puts nervous fans at east when they step up to the microphone to ask their burning question. Being the proud owner of two dogs, he is a big proponent of animal rights. Seriously, how could you not love this guy?
